Lamplighter Festival, Todmorden, Saturday, 19th November – have you got an hour to help?
Once again, we will take a market stall, sell hot vegan street food and provide information during the afternoon of the Lamplighter Festival. The stall will be set up from 3pm, opening about 3.30pm, and continue during the Illuminated Street Festival. We will pack up when the parade starts at 7pm.
Would you like to make something for us to sell? We will reimburse ingredients costs (receipts please). Food that can be wrapped and easily hand-held. We will probably have hot dogs, sausage rolls and daal/chilli already.
It is usually a busy and fun day and we will need lots of help. If you are willing and able to contribute some of your time in setting up, packing up, running the stall or providing tasters, even for an hour, please email Hilary at hils46@yahoo.co.uk.
We will be running an information and food stall at this event being held at Mytholmroyd Community Centre (just over the bridge at the start of Caldene Avenue HX7 5AF) on Sunday, 17 April 2016.
Elizabeth will coordinate the 3VV presence at the event so please communicate with her via elizabethking@talktalk.net if you are able to help or provide nibbles for the stall – we always need help at events like this so don’t be shy in volunteering any time you can spare.
The festival will include entertainment and will be open between 10am and 5pm.

A recent publication from The Vegan Society includes the following.
Next Monday the Climate Change Conference will begin in Paris. This is a historic event. After two decades of United Nations negotiation, world leaders will gather to reach a legally binding and universal agreement aiming to avoid catastrophic climate change.
In the vegan community we all know that the so-called ‘livestock’ sector is responsible for the suffering of millions of animals. But it has also become a huge contributor to climate change, threatening the lives of non-human and human animals.
However, our government has done very little or almost nothing to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions of this sector.
We cannot wait anymore. It is with this mind-set that we recently launched our new campaign, Grow Green. This initiative calls on the government to incentivise the UK production of plant protein crops for human consumption. How? By supporting UK farmers who are interested in transitioning from livestock farming to growing more local, sustainable crops. This could:• Eliminate the suffering of millions of animals;
• Reduce the threat of climate change and food security;
• Encourage a more sustainable food chain in the UK and healthier food habits;
• Guarantee continuity of employment to young farmers in a climate change era.We urgently need to ensure that your MP knows about Grow Green too. Please click on this link to send an email to your MP asking them to support this transition.
