3 May: Alternatiba Todmorden

3 Valley Vegans were a part of the Alternatiba festival in Todmorden earlier this month.

Petition: DO NOT repeal the fox hunting ban

Baby fox

TO: DAVID CAMERON (PRIME MINISTER) AND THE HOUSE OF COMMONS.

David Cameron, you stated that if re-elected, you would repeal the ban on fox hunting. Please do not go ahead with this plan.

Why is this important?

In a modern, civilised society, there is no place for this grotesque and cruel pastime. The previous government banned the practice, but the new government is planning to legalise hunting foxes using dogs. This is a barbaric and outdated activity that should stay where it belongs – in the past.

We have a choice in this life, we can be kind, or we can be cruel. I think the choice is easy…

13 June: Great Yorkshire Vegan Festival, Leeds Town Hall

Quoted direct from the Yorkshire Vegan Festival website:

Following the huge success of the first Great Yorkshire Vegan Festival in May 2014 in Leeds that attracted thousands of people from all over the UK and beyond, we will be returning to Leeds for the second annual Great Yorkshire Vegan Festival on 13th June 2015 in Leeds Town Hall. The Great Yorkshire Vegan Festival, WinterFest and the Northern Vegan Festival are all run entirely by volunteers to support various animal welfare charities.

There will be 150 fantastic stalls offering a wide variety of vegan products including cakes, chocolate, hot takeaway food, make up, clothing, pet treats and much more.

There will be lots of free samples and special offers. There will be an outdoor barbecue, live music, a history of veganism exhibit and children’s activities.

There will also be the chance to find out more about the animal charities listed on our website and the work they do. These will range from local to international organizations that would really appreciate your support.

We will have various animal welfare and vegan presentations in a separate room and live cookery demonstrations.

Admission is only £2 (under 16’s free) payable at the door and all proceeds will go directly to our chosen animal welfare charities.
