A local group to support and encourage a compassionate, cruelty-free, vegan lifestyle. We hold cooking sessions, tasting sessions, information sessions on everything from cruelty-free moisturisers to leather-free walking boots; vegan textiles to the best dairy-free cheese for cheese sauce!
Sieve together the dry incredients. Stir in the milk. Leave to sit for 20 minutes, give a quick stir, and then you are ready to fry the pancakes. Heat a frying pan, add a small amount of oil or margarine then add 2 tablespoons of batter. Tilt pan to coat the bottom. Fry until bubbles appear. Flip, and fry for a further minute or so.
The IWD on Saturday was a roaring success. What began as a request to cater for the day, turned into a 3 Valley Vegans event !!
Between us all, we managed to promote veganism, raise some money for our group and the Mayor’s Charity and ensure that all food provided was vegan. Alison cooked all day Friday and Saturday and Helen valiantly made over 100 superb cakes ! Penny bought us lots of lovely Saker cake and Mary & Estelle decorated the cafe beautifully and served the food in their special tea party pinnies !
Elizabeth and Margaret did the full day on the stall and Rachel, Janet, Sandra, Caz & our lovely Isaac did their stints too. We raised over £400 on the hot food and cakes .. which will go to Overgate Hospice and a Women’s Refuge.
I think that it was a great way to launch our group and that we’ll go on from strength to strength showing the world (or at least the Upper Calder Valley!!) how a vegan lifestyle is the way to go!!
It has taken me a long time to get here, but I am finally a vegan, thanks to a gradually increasing understanding over many years of the extent of the cruelty involved in almost* all farming of animals, and to a final push from the excellent Calderdale Vegan Approach.
We will have a stall at the Healthy & Alternative Living Fair, this Saturday 8th February in Bradford. We need more members to help out, so if you can spare an hour or two on the stall, please get in touch.
Venue: Bradford Club, 1 Peace Hall Yard, Bradford BD1 1PJ
10am – 4pm. Free Entry.
Health-related stalls, talks, delicious vegan food, mediation, alternative therapies and more…
3 Valley Veg*ns was born on 30 January 2014 at the Todmorden Community Resource centre. A group of new, experienced and aspiring vegans met to kick of the organisation of a resource to support, inspire and encourage all those of us wanting to learn more about how to reduce animal cruelty by the choices we make as consumers.
The was a delicious array of food (vegan, naturally) including some fabulous sushi and pancake rolls, some cupcakes, some chinese buns and mini pizzas.
By unanimous vote the name 3 Valley Veg*ns was chosen for the group, to provide a resource to all in the upper Calder valley from Burnley to Rochdale to Halifax and beyond.
