“What is The Real Junk Food Project Calderdale?”
The Real Junk Food Project Calderdale aims to reduce unnecessary food waste and the climatic impacts of this by salvaging food thrown away by supermarkets and other retailers and transforming it into nutritionally balanced meals. All meals are served on a ‘pay as you feel’ basis.
Remember that due to the nature of the operation the food may run out before the end of the evening. So please try to come on time, but we can always find a take away if needs be – it’s about the social element as much as anything else!
Grains represent the greatest nutrition for most populations all over the world. For vegans they provide amazing nutrition for strong minds and bodies… not to mention great creativity in meal planning. This 3 Valley Vegans cooking event aims to take you through the variety and simple basic preparation of grains that can be developed into delicious gourmet meals.
From Todmorden up to Gaddings Dam (there is a beach there), on to Stoodley Pike and then down to Hebden Bridge. About 4 hours including a stop for lunch. Anyone who wants to can then extend the walk back to Todmorden along the canal, making it a circular walk of about 5 to 6 hours.
Don’t forget to bring your lunch with you and maybe you might want to share some as long as it is vegan. Walking boots and suitable clothing are essential.
Start off at 10.30 am outside The Bear in Todmorden (Rochdale Road) on Sunday 1st November (new date!).
Please note that there will be some steep gradients to climb.
EDIT: Here are some photos from the event, taken by Rob.
