CANCELLED 10 Apr: Good Friday walk to Pace Egg Play(s) in #Heptonstall

Update 2: the plays are going to happen online instead

Update 1: Following Government advice, we have to cancel this event, sadly.

Twice before, 3 Valley Vegans ended a great walk at the Pace Egg Play(s) in Heptonstall.  We’re going to do it again this year and this time our walk will start in Todmorden.  It will take us around 3 hours to walk the 9 km (5.5 miles) route to Heptonstall and, if we arrive on time, we will be able to watch the Calder High School version of the play at 3pm and the Heptonstall Players’ version at 4pm.  The walk will afford some great views and will pass some lovely places as well as working farms where animals do not live the kind of lives that vegans wish for them.  The Pace Egg plays  are a Good Friday tradition and it is great fun to be part of the large and interactive audience. (Final details TBC)

  • 🕦 Time & date: Good Friday, 10th April 2020 before 11:30 am as we will leave promptly at that time.
  • 🚏 Meeting place: The bus stop on the opposite side of the road to the Shell garage on Halifax Road, Todmorden (heading out of Todmorden towards Halifax, the bus stop is on the left 100m before the left turn to Hallroyd Road).
  • 👞 Equipment: The walk could well cross muddy and slippery terrain and so waterproof walking boots and suitable clothing are a must.  Maybe walking sticks too.
  • 😬 Severity: The 9 km walk will involve climbs totalling 516m and the highest point will be 326m above sea level. (We will have started at 124m above sea level.)
  • 🍞 Food: Please bring only vegan food to eat for lunch and/or during the walk.  That’s the rule for 3VV walks.
  • 🚌 Getting home afterwards: those returning to Todmorden can either do it on foot again following a different route on the same side of the valley (north) or take a bus.
  • 📧 Booking: Please email Rob if you would like to attend: forgivenleaf@mac.com

Hooray hooray.  No chicken suffers in the Pace Egg play.

25 Jan: Cube of Truth comes to #HebdenBridge

Review by Myra

On Saturday 25th January, Cube of Truth came to Hebden Bridge for the first time. Cube of Truth is a form of street activism devised by Anonymous for the Voiceless in Australia and now takes place all over the world.
The Hebden Bridge event was organised by Anonymous for the Voiceless Bradford. I didn’t count how many people came but I reckon around 25, many more, I’m told, than usually join Cube of Truth events. It seemed a lot of people were very keen to bring their message to Hebden Bridge. One reason was the opportunity to reach visitors as well as residents.
It was a very interesting day and many conversations were held with people who had viewed the footage from the film “Dominion” shown on the screens held in the Cube.
Hebden Cube of Truth 1
Cube of Truth events are conducted according to a very specific set of guidelines to ensure that passers by who are engaged with receive a consistent vegan message. People new to the Cube are welcome to shadow more experienced members of the group as they talk to people. Everyone is welcome to have a stint standing in the Cube, although this is not compulsory. It is interesting to view what is happening from behind a mask!
Afterwards we repaired to the lovely vegan cafe Sacred Space for delicious food and warmth! You can see a brief video of this tiny cafe packed with activists on their Facebook page.

Original post

The Cube of Truth is a peaceful static demonstration akin to an art performance. This demonstration operates in a structured manner that triggers curiosity and interest from the public; they attempt to lead bystanders to a vegan conclusion through a combination of local standard-practice animal exploitation footage and conversations with a value-based sales approach.

The Cube of Truth is organised by Anonymous for the Voiceless. The demo comes to Coffee Cali, Hebden Bridge on Saturday, 25 January at 12.30pm. See the facebook icon 16 Cube of Truth Facebook event

7 Dec: Peace at Christmas, stall in #HebdenBridge

Following our Christmas Faves Cookery Demo, 3 Valley Vegans will set up a stall in St George’s Square, Hebden Bridge on Saturday, 7 December. We will share some of our usual supportive information, focused on the ‘Bring peace to all this Christmas‘ message from Viva!, particularly for turkeys. Thanks to Sacred Space and Compassion in World Farming.

If you are able to help out for a few hours, please let us know!
